CASE STUDIES

Marine Consultancy and Marine Warranty Surveys

As marine warranty surveyors we provide independent third-party technical review and approval of high-value and high-risk marine construction and transportation project operations – from the planning stages through to the physical execution.

Our network is manned by professionally qualified and experienced technical specialists covering a broad range of marine, engineering and offshore disciplines.

These are typically required by those involved in marine operations such as vessel owners, charterers, insurers, and banks, to provide an independent assessment of the risk associated with a marine operation.

Marine warranty surveys are essential to ensure that marine operations are carried out safely, in accordance with applicable regulations and industry standards, and with the appropriate level of risk mitigation measures in place. This is important for high-value or complex marine operations such as offshore construction projects, transportation of heavy cargo, or drilling operations.

By obtaining a marine warranty survey, you and the parties involved can demonstrate to stakeholders that you have taken all necessary measures to minimise risk and that you are committed to ensuring the safety of assets, crew, and the environment. Insurance underwriters may also require a marine warranty survey as a condition of providing coverage for the marine operation.

We at Broadreach Marine have been involved with several large marine projects in South Korea, where we have worked as Marine Warranty Surveyors on behalf of international clients.

Here is a Case Study where we provided multi-level assistance to one client for the Load out of a Floating Dock, for export from South Korea to Vancouver in Canada.

After receiving an initial enquiry from a client in Canada, we surveyed a floating dock that was for sale in South Korea.

The dock was equipped with two tower cranes and one side ramp.

Broadreach Marine worked as the primary contractor to dismantle the tower cranes and the side ramp. And safely secure these component parts within the floating dock.

We then made all necessary arrangements for the ballasting operations required to reduce the draft to a minimum.

The floating dock was manoeuvred from the inner harbour using local tugs to take it out to a deep water anchorage where it was loaded onto a heavy lift vessel called the ‘MIGHTY SERVANT 3’.

One of our Specialist Marine Warranty Surveyors, Mr. Rick Chalker, was then engaged to supervise the load out of the Floating Dock onto the ‘Mighty Servant 3’.

We worked with several Korean contractors and expert engineering companies to provide a turn-key service to our Canadian Client. As well as providing the Marine Warranty expertise in Korea to oversee the Load-Out of the Floating Dock.

The Floating Dock was safely delivered to Vancouver and is now in operation with Vancouver Drydocks.
