We have had a very busy week in Vietnam with the preparation of the MV ‘Menawthan’ to sail away from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, to the UK. This purpose designed and built cargo vessel will provide a year-round lifeline link for freight and 12 passengers from the Isles of Scilly to Penzance, when she enters service in June 2026.
And the launching of the MV ‘Scillonian IV’ at Piriou Shipyard, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. This purpose designed and built 600 passenger vessel is now moored at the outfitting berth where all the passenger lounge and cafeteria furnishing will be installed as well as commissioning of all the propulsion and auxiliary machinery.
These two events mark significant milestones for the Isles of Scilly Steamship Company and their investment and commitment to the future essential maritime link services to the Isles of Scilly.
We are very proud to be part of the team who have brough these vessels to life over the past twenty-four months. It is a very impressive feet to have gone from starting Plan Approval in March 2024, to having two uniquely designed vessel at this level of completion in March 2026.
We wish a safe voyage for the crew and the delivery of the MV Menawethan to the UK.
